Route

Start on Usk Way near the University of South Wales (opposite Friars Walk) at 9am.

Starting on Usk Way outside the University of South Wales (on the Riverfront) right in the City Centre, the route takes runners across the iconic SDR Bridge and makes its way to the cenotaph memorial at Clarence Place. After a sharp turn on Newport Bridge, the path continues along Caerleon Road, leading to the delightful village of Caerleon. From there, participants will trace the beautiful River Usk back toward Newport, passing the Riverfront Building and crossing the Millennium Bridge before tackling the SDR Bridge once more. The final mile winds along the picturesque river path, culminating with the Finish line behind the University Building.

Runners not reaching the 9 mile mark at Sainsbury’s before midday will be directed along a slightly different route, using pavements so that the roads may reopen for the lunch time traffic.

Headphones

The Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon is a licensed event run under UKA terms and conditions. This includes the ban on in-ear headphones being worn.

About the Charity behind the St Joseph’s Hospital City of Newport Half Marathon (St David’s Hospice Care)

St David’s Hospice Care is a charitable organisation providing comprehensive, palliative care to patients, their families and carers facing life-limiting illnesses across Southeast Wales (Newport, Caerphilly, Torfaen, Monmouthshire, as well as Mid and South Powys.)

We provide a large range of expert services offering care and support to help people live and have the best quality of life possible. Our services are delivered from the comfort of our patient’s homes or our purpose-built in-patient hospice. We believe everyone should have access to high quality and compassionate palliative and end of life care, where and whenever they need it. All of these services are, always, free of charge.

From our first year of operation in 1979, St. David’s Hospice Care has grown to become one of the UK’s largest provider of hospice at home care, supporting over 3,500 patients and families every year, at a cost of over £9 million pounds.  St David’s Hospice Care is indebted to the local community for their on-going support in helping to continue raising vital funds.
